5 Reasons why Z Nation isn't as good as The Walking Dead by the author of Dead Bastards

When I heard there was going to be another zombie show I was excited. You can never get enough zombies on TV, right?

The premise for Z Nation was interesting - a ragtag of survivors transport the only person known to have survived a zombie bite to a facility searching for a clue.

So far, I've been disappointed for a number of reasons.

1. The zombies are too easy to kill and apart from the first episode, you never feel like the group are in any danger.

Where's Z Nation's Rick Grimes?

2. The show has no main star. No Rick Grimes. No Daryl Dixon. No Carol or Michonne.

Citizen Z the only character who's not cardboard

3. Apart from DJ Qualls character, Citizen Z (he pronounces it zee) the acting is poor and the characters cardboard cut outs. It's hard to care about any of them.

4. Extremely poor production values, something which makes you appreciate how much money and love is lavished on The Walking Dead.

End to end zombie action isn't always a good thing
5. Too many zombies. WHAT! It's a zombie show. But, if there's zombies every few minutes you lose the tension of the characters being chased because you're expecting it.

In a nutshell, Z Nation has a lot of work to do if it wants to keep us watching. There's a feeling that they rushed the show out to capitalise on the success of The Walking Dead.

Z Nation has its moments, but there's not enough of them.

That said, the show's had some good ideas, like the zombie baby and the undead playing dead.

Verdict - Z Nation has a tremendous amount of work to do if it wants to be spoken of in the same sender as The Walking Dead.
